چکیده

A semi-analytical model (CDOM-KD2) based on the light vertical attenuation coefficient (Kd(?)) has been developed for estimating absorption by colored dissolved organic matter, acdom(443), from ocean color remote sensing at global scale. The performance of this new inversion together with that former models Shanmugam (2011) (S2011), Chen et al. (2017) (C2017) and Aurin (2018) (A2018) was evaluated in situ matchup validation data sets gathering worldwide distributed samples. An overall consistency acdom(443) estimated S2011, C2017 CDOM-KD2 a slightly better latter method observed (MAPD 27.42% 30.85% open satellite data, respectively), emphasizing possible specific assessment dynamics over including most oligotrophic waters. At 443 nm average relative contribution to detrital acdm(443) is 61% ± 14%, while non-water absorption, anw(443), 35% 26%. Strong spatial disparities are however both temporal budget. decoupling between particulate (i.e. non-living) matter phytoplankton gyre areas where low variability globally observed. This contrasting water masses influenced terrestrial inputs as well equatorial subtropical impacted main oceanic currents CDOM loads budget more variable.

High colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) absorption in surface waters of the central-eastern Arctic Ocean: Implications for biogeochemistry and ocean color algorithms

As consequences of global warming sea-ice shrinking, permafrost thawing and changes in fresh water and terrestrial material export have already been reported in the Arctic environment. These processes impact light penetration and primary production. To reach a better understanding of the current status and to provide accurate forecasts Arctic biogeochemical and physical parameters need to be ex...

An empirical ocean color algorithm for estimating the contribution of chromophoric dissolved organic matter to total light absorption in optically complex waters

[1] To estimate the depth-integrated rate of photochemical processes involving chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in coastal waters, the contribution of CDOM to the total absorption coefficient must be known from UV to green. At 307 sites sampled in various coastal marine environments, the ratio between CDOM and the total absorption coefficient ([aCDOM/at]) at 412 nm was found to vary...
